The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission which patrols the lakes and the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resourcesis that manages the parks are considering a proposal allowing larger motors on state lakes. The new proposal is to raise the current 10 horsepower (HP) limit or eliminate the limitation. In place of the HP limitation, the state would institute a "slow, no wake" policy.
The proposal would affect seven of the states lake including Lake Marburg in York County which has had the 10 HP limitation since it opened in the early 1970's.
The other lakes that would be affected are Yellow Creak State Park, Indiana County; Maurice K. Goddard State Park, Mercer County; Moraine State Park, Butler County; Prince Gallitzin State Park, Cambria County; and Pymatuning State Park, Crawford County.
