As with most avid fisherman, I've been fishing all my life. However Bass fishing has become my passion over the past 20 or more years. I've had the opportunity to fish many major bass fishing hot spots over the years. I've fished for smallmouth in Canada, New York's Thousand Islands, and the famous Juniata and Susquehanna Rivers, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario. My pursuit of Largemouth has taken me to Raystown and Blue Marsh Lakes in Pennsylvania, Deep Creek Lake, the Potomac, Choptank, Nanticoke, Pokomoke, Wicomico and Rappahannock rivers in Maryland. Lake Anna, Bugs Island, and Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. I've also had the opportunity over the last ten years to fish on several occasions on Santee-Cooper in South Carolina, and the Great Lake Okecheobee in Florida. Unfortunitely due to ongoing back problems, I've recently had to contain my pursuit locally. I've continued fishing the Susquehanna River, Pinchot and Redman Lakes, and Hanover's local Lake Marburg.
I joined Adams County Bassmasters, my first bass club in 1981, and joined B.A.S.S. and the PA B.A.S.S. Federation at that time. During my tenure in the club I was the club secretary for over 5 years, and the club Federation representative, as well as the District III Secretary for two years. I won several club tournaments as well as earned a birth in the clubs " Classic Tournament" each year from 1988 (year of it's inception) through 1991. I earned the Sportman of the year title in 1982, and again in 1990. In an interest to fish different water and expand my fishing knowledge, I joined Mason Dixon Bassmasters and the MD B.A.S.S. Federation In 1991. I held several offices including club president in 1993. I won several club tournaments each year as well as earning second place in club standings in 1993. I was a previous member of the American Bass Association, and fished their tournament circuit for five years. Although due to health problems I no longer fish in tournaments, I am still affiliated with Mason Dixon and work with the local tournament curcuits.
I started sharing my fishing knowledge through seminars
in 1991 as a member of the B&B Lures Tackle Shop ProStaff. I did
seminars throughout the winter at sportsman shows, fishing flea markets,
and during in store promotions for the Tackle Shop and Sponsors.
I obtained my first Sponsor in 1991, when I became a member of the B&B Lures Tackle Shop Tournament Team then later as a ProStaff Member. B&B Lures help me acquire my first Major tackle manufacture, STORM LURES. I joined the SNIPER SPINNERBAITS team in 1992, and TRUTURN in 1995 (now a member of TruTurns Five Star ProStaff). In 1996, I became involved with BERKLEY, promoting Powerbaits and fishing line.
For several years I hosted "The Fishing Report"
offering fishing reports
for Lake Marburg and other local favorites. They were broadcast on WHVR
1280 AM radio.
I started "THE
FISHERMAN'S NEWSLETTER" in January 1997 as
a way to inform local fisherman of a variety of information including
industry news, local club and tournament news, and any thing else pertaining
to fishing that's going on in our area. The newsletter is published
four times a year, and was distributed through local tackle shops and
marine dealers. In 2000 it became totally an E-zine.
In the summer of 1997, I started writing a fishing tips
column for The Evening Sun and continued there for serveral years. I
look forward to sometime in the future having my articles published
in the major publications.
